Bringing the Finest Fishing Lines to the World
Through the Heritage and Innovation of
"XBRAID = Four-Strand Braiding" Technology

In 2019, under a new management structure carrying on the vision of our former president, we launched a new brand: XBRAID.
The "X" represents the crossing pattern created by four-strand braided construction, while "BRAID" signifies the art of braiding.
Producing a true four-strand braided line requires not only inherited expertise, but also the craftsmanship and dedication to perfect it.
By combining these traditional skills with forward-looking technological innovation, we strive to create the ultimate fishing lines.
We proudly deliver products that answer the expectations and passion of anglers around the world.

What's BRAID

We have a dream.
That dream is to become the world's No.1 fishing line manufacturer by bringing together the No.1 skills of every employee, creating No.1 products,
and establishing a No.1 factory.

At the same time, we aspire to build a sustainable society where people,
oceans, and forests coexist in harmony, while sharing the spirit and values
of those who love fishing.

With a commitment to excellence and gratitude toward nature, we aim to earn
the support and trust of anglers worldwide while opening the door to a new future.

So that the excitement of fishing and the healing beauty of nature
can continue forever.

Brand History

A 70-Year Legacy Originating from "Yotsuami Tsuriito Nakanishi Factory," Established in 1949

Built upon a DNA of technological innovation and decades of proven expertise, XBRAID was born.

Combining globally recognized technology with meticulous Japanese craftsmanship, every detail reflects the spirit of Made in Japan quality.

70 Years Since Our Founding, 30 Years Since Incorporation

Saburo Nakanishi, who trained during the era of natural and synthetic fishing lines, founded "Yotsuami Tsuriito Nakanishi Factory" in 1949.

In 1950, he established the Yotsuami Fishing Line Research Institute and Factory
behind Fukura Station on Awaji Island. In 1953, the company obtained a utility
model patent for its "four-strand braided" fishing line technology,
which prevented twisting and slackening.

Transitioning fishing lines from twisted yarn to braided construction
became the foundation of who we are.

In 1989, the manufacturing division of Yotsuami Tsuriito Nakanishi Factory
was incorporated independently, and Shigeru Nakanishi founded YGK Co., Ltd.

As the industry evolved from nylon monofilament and polyester braided
main lines to PE lines, the company achieved numerous innovations.
In 2005, we invented the braiding technology that would later become
the foundation of the WX Manufacturing Method.

"Our goal is to make fishing lines thinner and stronger - lines that can
transform tackle and fishing styles. If we create truly superior products,
they will surely be accepted.
Someday, I want to introduce the world's finest line under the XBRAID brand."

Those words became the driving force behind the launch of the new brand.

Then, in 2019, leadership was passed on to a new management team.

Guided by the vision of our former president, we combined inherited craftsmanship with new ideas to bring the finest fishing lines to the world.

That was the beginning of XBRAID.

Technology

The Proprietary "WX Manufacturing Method" That Redefined the Concept of PE Fishing Lines
Each carrier is carefully braided one by one to produce exceptionally strong, high-quality fishing lines.
What we pursue is the ultimate. Our challenge toward further evolution never ends.

  • The Ultimate Technology
    - WX Manufacturing Method
Nearly all PE lines are braided using a process known as square braiding.
Raw yarn wound onto clockwise and counterclockwise rotating bobbins is gradually drawn out and interwoven to form a single line.
Just as line twist occurs when line is released from a spinning reel, twist is also generated when yarn is pulled from the bobbins. If the clockwise and counterclockwise bobbins precisely apply twist in their respective directions during braiding, the resulting line achieves excellent balance with no one-sided twist.
However, conventional braiding machines lacked the mechanisms necessary to achieve this level of precision.
To solve this, we independently developed the structure of our braiding machines, manufacturing and assembling each carrier unit in-house with meticulous care.
  • Strength and Durability
    Strong and resilient.
Lines braided using the WX Manufacturing Method are constructed with clockwise and counterclockwise yarns positioned in perfect balance. This results in superior linear strength and overall stability.
For example, just as a twisted rubber band naturally returns to its original shape when released, even if line twist occurs during actual fishing, one yarn becomes over-twisted while the other unwinds, creating a natural restoring force that resists permanent twisting.
Because the line resists twisting, knots are less likely to loosen or lift, minimizing strength loss at the knot.
In addition, the tightly twisted structure creates a compact, solid line - much like a tightly wrung cloth - resulting in excellent abrasion resistance and superior water-shedding performance.
Most importantly, because the line naturally returns to its original state, its designed stretch characteristics and strength are maintained over long periods of use, allowing anglers to enjoy consistent performance throughout extended fishing sessions.
We develop each product individually, optimizing balance according to specific fishing styles and target species, while continuing to create lines anglers can truly feel are "strong and resilient."
  • High Quality
Because PE lines are braided constructions, the weave naturally opens, resulting in excellent flexibility and reduced memory. However, this also creates drawbacks such as reduced stiffness, increased risk of tangling, and poor water drainage due to moisture retention within the braid structure.
Additionally, since PE lines are made from ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene resin, they have poor adhesive properties, causing coatings applied for added stiffness to peel more easily.
We continue evolving the technologies passed down through generations in pursuit of the ultimate fishing line.
In 2019, we launched a double-structure PE line featuring a core yarn surrounded by an outer braided sheath created using the WX Manufacturing Method.
In addition to the structural stiffness provided by its core-sheath construction, pressure-applied resin processing significantly improved coating durability.
We continue to advance this technology even further. For example, just as automotive coatings now use self-healing polymers capable of repairing minor scratches automatically, we are developing fishing line coatings with self-repairing capabilities to create ideal lines that maintain stiffness and performance over extended use.

Factory

One of the World's Largest Fishing Line Manufacturing Operations
Currently operating seven factories, we utilize proprietary production plants developed in-house to achieve both high quality and stable supply.
With the goal of becoming the world's No.1 production manufacturer, plans for new factory construction are also underway.
